![]() gaul and i were defeating all of the julii armies sent but brutii family had just sent a couple of stacks to help out their allies and julii also had another stack of mainly infantry. they were too busy attacking rome to bother with me so the alliance held andi started moving a stack to help them in northern italy whilst pursuading an egyptian diplomat to send his armies against the scipii which they did after a bit. it took about 30 turns before i had enough elite men to storm through gaul who i'd allied myself with to take out their sworn enemy, the romans. Once i finally had spain and was happily using spanish mercs as part of my army and now recruiting barbarian warbands i was happy and building walls of forts near the gaul-iberia border and making them all around the coast with some near corduba to protect from numidia. took me some turns to take that mountain pass one though. ![]() i decided on spain as its easy enogh to steamroll. Usually easy but i decided to pack my bags and leave for a natural peninsula as a defensive position. My hardest campaign i got defeated as Carthage. Only advantage I can think of is that there is some scope for seizing Seleucid lands, but after getting enough money for a force to seize Hatra, Egypt got too powerful and steamrolled me. ![]() They were the only faction I ever failed to win with on my first go on M/M. Parthia have terrible infantry, and I find sieging very difficult with them - unfortunate becuase you need to grab as many territories early on to prevent bankrupcy. They are surrounded by enemies, most of which are very agressive (Egypt, Armenia in particular), and most factions are spear based (bad for cavalry). They are broke, you get stuck for a long time trying to save enough for a few economic improvements. The reason I choose them over other commonly regarded difficult factions (such as Numidia, Seleucia and Spain), really comes down to the weight of difficulties stacked against them. I think the hardest faction I have played with is definitely Parthia, despite my fondness normally for cavalry troops. I'm wondering what everyone thinks is the most difficult faction (or two if you can't decide), please include your justification. I have seen past threads ranking hardest factions, easiest factions etc, so I'll try to avoid that. I've also noticed that Kartli Axemen beat triarii and many hoplites 1v1 so I immagine that they can save cataphracts from some tough situations.Following my comments re: Greek Cities being the easiest (IMO) faction to suceed with I got thinking about which faction is the hardest. I've chosen Armenia over Parthia because they have the Persian cav, which means that they have some shock cav that can carry them while waiting for the eastern cataphracts. I've discarded Macedon because the companions are unlocked in the very late game. The hellenic cataphracts are better than the eastern, so for the majority of the campaign the Seleucids will actually have better cav than Armenians. Armenia has the best cataphracts but they are unlocked very late in the campaign, whereas the Seleucids have slightly worse cataphracts but are unlocked a lot earlier. Hello, I was looking at the unit rosters and the campaign requirements for some factions and was wondering: what's the best faction in the game if I want to rely on cavalry charges? From what I've noticed the 2 main contenders are the Seleucids and Armenia. Think we missed one? Give us a Modmail and suggest new Subreddits to add to the lists!
